Welcome to Downtown Orlando – the heart and soul of Orlando. From a bustling center of commerce boasting a diverse set of industries to fine restaurants, first-rate hotels, awe-inspiring art galleries, museums and more; Downtown has so much to offer everyone, who lives, works, plays, learns and raises a family in Central Florida.

Since I took office in 2003, Downtown Orlando's future has been a key priority of mine.  I challenged Central Florida to imagine a great City, reborn and revitalized.

Today, Downtown is the economic engine driving the future of all of Central Florida's economy. Our Downtown is a world-class urban core with residential, retail and commercial development; a diversified and thriving economy as well as a center for digital media and vast cultural and creative amenities that make it not only a hub for Central Florida, but for the entire State.

Orlando has recently recieved national recognition from Forbes magazine who ranks Metro Orlando fourth on their annual list of "Most Wired Cities."  Entrepreneur magazine listed "Orlando" as one of the "10 Best Cities to Start a Business."  And Fast Company magazine ranked Orlando a fast city full of innovation.

And in the very near future, Downtown Orlando will have even more to offer! Currently, Downtown Orlando is experiencing a historic cultural arts-and-entertainment renaissance through the development and construction of three state-of-the-art community venues, the new Amway Center that the Eastern Conference Champions Orlando Magic will call home, a world-class performing arts center and an upgraded Florida Citrus Bowl.

We have accomplished much in the past few years, and we have much yet to do.  The future remains bright for Downtown Orlando as our vision of a world-class city is realized and Downtown's revitalization continues to shape our dynamic City.
